In 1931, the Page-McIntyre Ultimate 4 system was introduced for finals, which eradicated the minor premier’s right to challenge and guaranteed 4 finals and a genuine grand last annually. The league arranged that the gate from finals matches be shared among all groups, which guaranteed a better dividend to the league’s weaker clubs.
