Dennis Lim states that the depictions of gays in mainstream movie ordinarily include things like the "homosexual joke", in which LGBT people are depicted to generate humor depicting gay gentlemen pejoratively as a "daisy, a fairy, a nonce, a pansy, a swish" or displaying lesbian lady as "butch" and to build a homosexual worry that plays on heterosexual people’s fears of dealing with sexual advancements from LGBT persons.
